Not to be confused with the AppleColor High-Resolution RGB Monitor for the Macintosh II series.

The AppleColor RGB Monitor was released by Apple Computer on September 15, 1986 for the Apple IIc and IIGS computers. It was discontinued on December 1992.

Description

The monitor used a shadow mask CRT with a viewable area of 11.5 inches that was capable of displaying 4,096 colors at a resolution of 640 x 200 pixels.[2] The monitor is also compatible with the Apple Universal Monitor Stand.[3][4]

Connector

The monitor included an attached cable with a DA-15 connector (often misidentified as "DB-15"). Though it physically looks like the video connector used by beige-era Macs, it uses a very different signal configuration.[1] The Apple Macintosh 12" RGB Display does support the Apple IIe Card through this connector, but requires a Macintosh LC series computer.[5]
