AppleScript is a scripting language used on Macs as of its introduction with System 7.1.1 (System 7 Pro). It is integrated into Mac OS X.

It provides a system-level scripting capability which can help in automating routine tasks and build affordable custom solutions, including application programmes, using "off-the-shelf" applications.

HyperCard, as of version 2.2, can work with AppleScript, alongside its own HyperTalk language.
