Compressor was previously bundled with Final Cut Pro, DVD Studio Pro, Motion, Soundtrack Pro in the Final Cut Studio suite; it was also bundled with Logic Pro and MainStage in the Logic Studio suite.
After those suites were discontinued with the releases of Final Cut Pro X and Logic Pro X in 2011, Compressor 4.0 and new versions of many of the other the apps became available separately through the Mac App Store. Apple continues to include Compressor in a suite for teachers and students called Pro Apps Bundle for Education.[1]
On November 12, 2020, Compressor was updated to version 4.5 with native support for Macs based on Apple M1 processors.[2]
