The Macao Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China (Chinese: 中華人民共和國澳門特別行政區, Jūng'wàh Yàhnmàhn Guhng'wòhgwok Oumún Dahkbiht Hàhngjingkēui), commonly known as Macao or Macau, is a city in the western Pearl River Delta by the South China Sea. It is a special administrative region of China with a separate governing and economic system. Its economy is based on casino gaming and tourism.

Statistics

The land area of Macau is 28.2 km2. As of 2020, the population is estimated to be 614,458, making it the most densely populated region in the world. [1]

Apple in Macau

The first Apple retail store in Macau was opened on June 25, 2016 at the Galaxy Macau resort.[2] In early 2020, all 2 stores were temporarily closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but were reopened that same year by March 13th.[3]
