Music Player is a basic application that was released with Mac OS X Public Beta in September 2000.[1][2]

Playback of CDs and MP3s were supported. Music Player was replaced by iTunes for Mac OS X as of the official release of Mac OS X 10.0 "Cheetah", which itself was replaced with the Music app in macOS Catalina in 2019.
