Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) refers to a company which repackages equipment, such as computers, made by another manufacturer and then markets it under its own branding.[1] The term is sometimes used to describe matching equipment or parts sourced from the same supply chain.[2]
Description
OEM arrangements are often made for marketing reasons. The term may be misleading as an "Original Equipment Manufacturer" does not necessarily add anything except their name to the product. In some cases, a value-added reseller may integrate and package such components into complete "turnkey" systems.[1]
