Space Invaders Infinity Gene is an action shooter video game that is a spinoff of the classic Space Invaders arcade game. It was developed by Taito and published by Square Enix for iOS and Android.

Releases

Space Invaders Infinity Gene was first released on December 17, 2008 for BREW-supported mobile phones in Japan. The iPhone OS version was released on July 27, 2009. The Android version was released on September 7, 2011.[1]

Reception

Space Invaders received a gold award from Pocket Gamer, was named the top iPhone game of 2009 by Gamasutra, and was included among the most "worthwhile" iPhone games by Kotaku.[2]

System requirements and discontinuation

Versions 1.0 to 3.x required iPhone OS 3.0. The final version (4.1.5) was released on July 24, 2013 and required iOS 4.3 or later.[3] However, as it was a 32-bit app that was not updated to 64-bit, it was not supported by iOS 11 and was withdrawn from the iTunes Store in late 2017.[4] However, the Android version, which was last updated on August 20, 2013, remains available.
