A badge indicating support for AirPrint
AirPrint is a wireless printing protocol developed by Apple with Hewlett-Packard (HP) for iOS, iPadOS, and macOS. It combines features of its predecessor, Bonjour, with the Internet Printing Protocol to allow devices to connect to printers over Wi-Fi with little or no configuration necessary. HP markets this capability as part of its ePrint platform.[1]
History
AirPrint was first introduced for iPads, iPhones, and iPod touches with the release of iOS 4.2 in November 2010.[2] It had also undergone beta testing for Mac OS X 10.6.5 (Snow Leopard), but was withheld from public release for Macs in that same month.[3][4] Mac support for AirPrint finally arrived with the release of Mac OS X 10.7 (Lion) in 2011.[5]
