The iPad mini 2, also marketed as the iPad mini with Retina Display, is the 2nd generation of the Apple iPad mini tablet device series.
Features
The iPad mini 2 externally resembles the original iPad mini but it is heavier, faster, more powerful, and includes a Retina display. The 64-bit Apple A7 chip powers the lightweight device, which weighs less than one pound. Apple stated that this tablet is up to twice as fast as the 4th generation iPad. Notable improvements include a second microphone improve audio recordings. Apple also added a second antenna to this model's structure to improve Wi-Fi connections through MIMO technology.
Release
The iPad mini became available on November 12, 2013 from AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon in the United States.[1] In Canada, the prices and plans are more expensive at carriers such as Bell, Telus, Sprint and others.[2]
Accessories
iPad mini Smart Covers and leather Smart Cases were available in 6 colors and are sold separately. A magnet in the cover or case causes the iPad go to "sleep" when closed and "wake up" when opened.
